25 Things About Me - Continued

It's funny how life just gets in the way sometimes.  My goal of posting every few days has already been thwarted, so I've adjusted - my new goal is every few weeks!

I know the anticipation has been great, so I will get right to more interesting/little known facts about Station 7 Restaurant...

9.    There are 17 different ingredients in the original Station 7 BBQ sauce.
10.  There are 19 different ingredients in the Firehouse Chili.
11.  Other than the owners, we have one employee who has worked for us continuously since the very first day.
12.  The largest number of burgers we have served in one night is 242.  That was over 6 hours.  Recently we served 239 in 5 hours.
13.   We have served over 300,000 meals in the past five years.

So there you have it, a few more things about Station 7 Restaurant.  Check back in a few weeks (or less!) for the next part of the list!

25 Things about Me (Station 7 Restaurant that is)

A few years back, there was a big craze on Facebook where everyone compiled a list of interesting and/or little known facts about themselves, aka "25 Things About Me".  I personally enjoyed reading those lists as they offered a unique insight into how people see themselves and what I really knew about people I thought I already knew.

If Station 7 had a Facebook page back then (and I'm not sure we did since we don't have the scary timeline yet that would allow us to very easily check what we were doing in early 2008? 2009?), we did not make a list.  So here goes:

  1. The first time I entered the building that is now Station 7 Restaurant, we literally had to drag out boxes of junk just to set foot inside.
  2. There were also three cars parked in what is now the dining room.
  3. The pressed tin ceiling in the downstairs dining room is original (although restored) from 1929.
  4. It took 7 tons of sand to sandblast everything that had to be sandblasted.  That's 14,000 pounds!
  5. The upstairs bar top is made from the floor boards that used to be where the tile floor is now behind that bar.
  6. The wooden posts in the hostess stand came from the original railing at the top of the stairs.
  7. There never was a pole in the Pittsville firehouse - it was always a volunteer house and the second floor was used as a community center, not sleeping quarters.
  8. During renovations, we found evidence that at some time in the past there had been a FIRE in the FIREHOUSE1
This list is harder than I thought.  Consider this "25 Things About Me - Part 1" and be sure to check back in a few days for our next installment!

Also, don't forget this Saturday is Karaoke for Cash!  $100 to the best singer (as determined by the crowd, so bring your friends!)  Hope to see you soon at Station 7!

It only took me 4 months to get back here....

I wish I had some interesting, edge of your seat, hilarious reason why I haven't been back here, but I don't.  Too many things to do, not enough time to do them.  But I am setting a goal and making a promise - I will be here more often.  I want to say every day for the next 30 days, but that's unlikely.  So at least every few days for the next 30 days.

What's new in Pittsville?  To start, we've updated our $7.77 lunch menu to include some fresh, light favorites like the Chicken Salad Wrap!  Yes - it's BACK!  We've also added a flatbread pizza of the day and a turkey and cheese sub, plus many more choices.  Each is just $7.77 and includes a soft drink, plus most include a side.  You know that $5 sub deal you always hear about - that's JUST the sub!  We've got a great deal in Pittsville and if you haven't tried it yet, please do!

$7.77 Lunch Menu - available 11am-4pm Monday through Friday.  Call ahead for carry-out or dine-in and we'll have it ready when you get here! (410)835-3577

Thanks for reading!  Tell all your friends!

So this is mostly about Station 7 Restaurant in Pittsville....

While both Station 7 Restaurant in Pittsville and Station 7 Live in Laurel are owned by the same people, this blog will primarily focus on Pittsville.  I will include any information I can about Laurel, but we've got a marketing guru in Laurel who does a much better job keeping you informed through Facebook about what's going on there than I do in Pittsville, so I'm going to focus on Pittsville here.

I will also focus on limiting my run-on sentences.

Tonight is Burger Night!  $5 will get you an 8 oz. certified angus beef burger with one topping and one side!  We also have a pound of steamed shrimp for just $9.99.  Those specials are available from 4pm-9pm, dine-in only.

This weekend's entertainment:

Friday:  Live Music by Willow Brook.  One half of this duo, Hannah, won last year's Station 7 Superstar contest - truly an incredible voice you don't want to miss!

Saturday:  Mostly Country Karaoke & DJ

Sunday Football Specials! All the NFL action upstairs on 12 hd tvs!  Great food and drink specials like $1.50 Coors Light & Bud Light Drafts, $8.00 Natural Light & Miller High Life buckets and more!

We hope to see you this weekend at Station 7!

First time blogging, Let's see how it goes....

Welcome to Station 7 Restaurant's first blog post ever!  By the time anyone actually reads this, hopefully I will have figured out how to do this!  Recognize this place?

Yep, Station 7 Restaurant in Pittsville, MD.  We are on Facebook, we occasionally remember to Tweet, and we have a sorely outdated website that we are still trying to get to work.  So in the meantime, I am looking for an alternative to keep our information up to date and accessible by our customers and thought maybe a blog will work.

Ideally, you will be able to come to this blog and find information on current specials, upcoming entertainment and events, as well as a copy of our latest menu.  I also hope to provide information on banquets & private parties, fundraisers and community events.

And who knows, some days you might just find some entertaining anecdotes about Station 7 Restaurant, our employees, our history, our recipes and maybe even you - our customers!

So thanks for continuing to read this far and hopefully you'll return for something interesting next time!
